Think about a time when you exaggerated something to make a point, tell a story, or get someone's attention. What happened? What did you say? Why did you exaggerate? Looking back, do you think your exaggeration made your message more effective? Explain.

 10/12

Prompt: Think about a time when you exaggerated something to make a point, tell a story, or get someone's attention. What happened? What did you say? Why did you exaggerate? Looking back, do you think your exaggeration made your message more effective? Explain.

Prompt Response: I remember one day when my mom and I were getting ready for a big event. I was the first to get ready and my mom was after me. I waited and waited and finally I realized she still wasn't ready. I finally went up to tell her "You are taking forever and and half a minute", exaggerating how long she was taking. Looking back my exaggeration did make my message more effective because it put emphasis on how long she was taking.

Summary: In class we went over rhetorical devices hyperbole, understatement and litotes.

Reflection: I learned the name of rhetorical devices that I realized I use on a daily basis. This helps me to identify what they are called to use in different forms of writing.
