Reflect on your experience in AP Language. What has been going well for you, what has been challenging, and what is one thing you need to improve moving forward?

     Prompt: Reflect on your experience in AP language so far. What has been going well for you, what has been challenging, what is one thing you need to improve moving forward. 

    Prompt response: So far AP Lang has taught me so much so far. Something I think that has been going well for me is the break down of where your evidence comes from (experiences, observations and readings) and claims. Something that has been challenging is being able to explain my evidence. With that, something I need to improve moving forward is connecting my evidence back to my original claim. I notice that I struggle with that not just in AP Lang class but also my AP African American studies course. I know that I will improve though. 

    Summary: In class on Friday we wrote an argument paragraph establishing our position on whether there is such a thing as a "good kill".

    Reflection: I learned that I need to work on my time management skills because unfortunately I didn't get to write my conclusion. The prompt really impacted me because I was really torn between which side I should defend.

 Prompt: Describe one thing that makes you different from other people.     Prompt response: One thing that makes me different from other people is my unwavering knowledge of older music, shows and movies. My favorite decade is the 70s. From the music to the styling of their clothes, its so chic. Because I live with two other generations I'm constantly being introduced to older music, shows and movies. I'm usually not around my own generation until I get to school, so during the summers is when I really learn a lot. I think it makes me a well rounded person. Summary: Absent Reflection: Absent

Today, we learned how to use clustering as a brainstorming strategy before responding to any writing prompt. Think about today’s practice. How did clustering help you generate ideas, examples, etc for the prompt? What part of the clustering process was most useful to you, and do you think you would use this strategy when planning an AP Lang essay? Explain.

 Sep 25     Prompt:   Today, we learned how to use clustering as a brainstorming strategy before responding to any writing prompt. Think about today’s practice. How did clustering help you generate ideas, examples, etc for the prompt? What part of the clustering process was most useful to you, and do you think you would use this strategy when planning an AP Lang essay? Explain.     Prompt Response: Clustering works as a good brainstorming strategy because it helps you note your topics and connect them to your sub topics. The most useful part was the subtopics. in perspective, the topics serve as your claims while the subtopics can kind of be your evidence. In previous blog posts I talked about how evidence was the hardest for me, but now with this clustering method it seems it will make it easier.
